Christine Retschlag

Christine is a Brisbane-based journalist with more than 30 years’ experience working on newspapers, magazines and online in Australia, Hong Kong, London and Singapore. She started her career as a hard news reporter in newsrooms around the globe, before moving into the lifestyle space where she has spent the past 20 years specialising in travel and tourism. A multi-award winner, her most recent awards including the 2018 Australian Society of Travel Writers’ Award for Best Australian Travel Blog, and the 2017 Pacific Asia Travel Association Gold Award for Travel Journalism. She is also passionate about issues affecting women and marginalised groups around the world, which is reflected in her writing. When not travelling as much as she possibly can, you’ll find her in her 1920s Queenslander cottage in Brisbane, with a cold beer or gusty red, surrounded by the wildlife with which she shares her back deck, including a wild carpet python Sylvia, who makes the occasional cameo appearance.
