Andy recently graduated from Melbourne’s Hard Knock Knocks Comedy School where he achieved top billing on graduation night. The video is an extract from his first (and only) stand up performance. His unique style is a blend of quirky observational humour, self depreciation and just a little satire.
“I did my first set at Balmain Leagues Club and loved it. When I was 60 my friends urged me to enter Australia’s Got Talent (which was asking for seniors to apply) and I progressed through to performing at the Sydney Opera House. It was the best night of my life. My third set was when I was invited to Melbourne to do a gig for a book launch, and that was awesome too. I live in Maryborough, Queensland, and although in my later 60s now, I’m hoping to establish a comedy venue here.”
“I am a 76-year-old woman from Sydney. I enjoy preforming at my annual golf club presentation events and recently at my local Coast Seniors Centre. I also won a comedy Gong Show on a Comedy cruise.”
“I’ve been doing Comedy for the past five years although in the entertainment industry for 25 years. I mainly do observational humour with some story telling in relation to aging, seniors online dating and the funny aspects of getting older.”
Andy High is a 62-year-old pommy comedian from the NSW south coast who will drive up to 10 hours to tell the tale of how his 20-year-old self has not yet caught up with the reflection in his bathroom mirror. Andy came to Australia in 1988 as a bicentennial gift from the Queen. Andy was runner up in RAW Wollongong 2019, state finalist in 2023 and with Melbourne Comedy Festival gigs under his belt, he’s still trying to work out just exactly who he is.
Big Love! Big Dreams! Big Laughs! Big Hair! An outrageous story of Sveta, a Russian immigrant who came to Australia many years ago, in search of love. Sveta will take you on a musical adventure, challenge you to learn a few Russian words and make sure you take a little of the Russian spirit home with you. With professional training in performing and with the original aim to perform two shows to family and friends in a small Adelaide wine bar, before her mum passed away… Sveta’s performances have included the Adelaide Fringe, Darwin Fringe and the Gold Fields pub in Tennant Creek!
Glenn is a family-friendly comedy ventriloquist with a cast of loveable characters, including Eddy Crooks (the guy with all the answers, but none of the questions), Vanessa Goodtoogo (Koala Airlines flight attendant extraordinaire), King Tootencarhorn (the ultimate ‘yummy mummy’), Sashimi (the rare Japanese Talking Goldfish), Little Johnny (the recalcitrant infant), Claude Badly (the ‘friendly’ neighbour), Giddy-up (equine athlete from Kentucky) and Kirkk Effergee (the overindulged millennial voodoo child).
Reg’s prior performances include various Recreation and Sport Clubs, the Macksville Hotel, Sawtell Hotel, dinner dances and Vietnam Veterans groups. His most notable performance was for the Radio 2UE (NSW), calling a mock Sydney Olympics swimming race in the “Frank Spencer” (Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em) voice! Reg blends story telling and audience interaction by ‘sometimes’ pushing boundaries with his cheeky antics to provide a positive, relatable experience with lots of fun and always a laugh guaranteed.
“I co-wrote jokes for the number-one breakfast radio programme, worked in TV shows, commercials and films and created a comedy club before I went to Japan, where I learned to juggle, do magic, make balloon animals and speak Japanese. Three months after arriving in Japan, I won the equivalent of a thousand dollars for a three-minute comedy street performance and was put on a TV show, where I was dubbed a master street performer. I became a guest on talk shows, and acted in a sitcom, in commercials, and in stage plays and films. I created the first juggling club in Japan, built a studio/theatre, where I taught theatre improvisation in English and Japanese, ran juggling workshops, produced improv shows and performance competitions.”
“Performing Arts has been a lifetime pursuit of mine, and clowning evolved naturally as entertainment for my own children and the children I work with. As part of a lesson plan based on a circus theme, I created this demonstration video during Covid Lockdown as a means of encouraging students to create their own video, which they would submit for assessment.”
