Former Olympic swimmer Lisa Curry has shared her excitement as she revealed she is about to become a grandmother for the second time. The 57-year-old Aussie icon shared the happy news on social media on Wednesday alongside a photograph of her young grandson Flynn.

“Getting ready to be a big brother…” Lisa wrote on Instagram. “YES!! I’m going to be a Grannie again !! Congratulations Morgan and Ryan …. can’t wait for your little family to grow xxx.”

The new arrival is due in November and will be the second child for Lisa’s daughter Morgan and her husband Ryan Gruell, who tied the knot in 2016. Morgan made her own pregnancy announcement last week as she celebrated Mother’s Day and revealed she’s soon to become a mother-of-two.

“This Mother’s Day is a little different,” she wrote. “I feel so lucky to be Flynn’s mumma but also so lucky to be the mumma of our newest addition, due later this year. I am so full of love today. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums out there.”

Many fans congratulated Lisa, and of course Morgan, on the happy news, with one person writing: “Congratulations to all Granny Lisa .. another beautiful bub to love.”

Another said: “Huge congratulations to you Lisa and your beautiful family! Look forward to the journey through your eyes!” While another commented: “That’s wonderful news, Lisa. Flynn will be an awesome big brother.”

Lisa also used social media to announce that Morgan was expecting son Flynn back in 2017. She wrote at the time: “I’m going to be a GRANMA!!!!! It is with so much JOY & EXCITEMENT to announce that our beautiful daughter Morgan and hubby Ryan are having a BABY!! This kid is going to be spoilt rotten. Hooray!”

Morgan is one of three children that Lisa shares with ex-husband Grant Kenny, along with son Jett and daughter Jaimi. The couple split in 2009 after 23 years of marriage, and the former competitive swimmer went on to marry entertainer Mark Tabone in 2018.

Throughout her swimming career, Lisa became the only Australian swimmer to have held Commonwealth and Australian records in every stroke except backstroke, as well as competing in three Olympic Games in Moscow (1980), Los Angeles (1984) and Barcelona (1992).
