Donald Trumps costly family trips stirring financial concerns for officials

Donald Trump is racking up the expenses.

He may be a billionaire in his own right, but it seems Donald Trump doesn’t do it cheap.

Reports from the US are claiming that Donald’s family trips in one month have cost taxpayer’s more than Barack Obama’s cost in a whole year.

The Washington Post has reported on the unusually elaborate lifestyle of America’s new first family claiming it was straining the Secret Service and security officials, stirring financial and logistical concerns in several local communities, and costing far beyond what has been typical for past presidents.”

All coming with a price tag that, based on past assessments of presidential travel and security costs, could balloon into the hundreds of millions of dollars over the course of a four-year term, the Washing Post reported.

While government agencies had not responded to Washington Post’s request for confirmation on spending dollars, the Post estimates three trips to Mar-a-Lago cost federal treasury about $10 million US.

The Independent has reported Trumps three visits to Mar-a-Lago cost $11.3m US.

In comparison, Obama’s travel expenses totaled an average $12.1m per year.

Tom Fitton, president of the conservative group Judicial Watch, which closely tracked President Barack Obama’s family vacation costs, said Trump knows how well how much things like running a plane costs.

“This is an expensive way to conduct business, and the president should recognise that,” Tom Fitton told Washington Post.

Judicial Watch has said it intends to continue to monitor vacation costs for the Trump administration.
