Sophie, Countess of Wessex was all smiles yesterday as she carried out an official royal engagement, visiting her patronage Thames Valley Air Ambulance (TVAA) in Maidenhead, a town in England.

Sophie, who is married to Her Majesty the Queen’s youngest son Prince Edward, stepped out on her own on Thursday to help launch the organisation’s 21st anniversary celebrations ahead of National Ambulance Week, which runs from September 7 to 13 in the UK.

Sophie — who shares children Lady Louise Windsor, 16, and James, Viscount Severn, 12, with Edward — dressed for the occasion in fitted navy pants, a matching blazer and a blue floral button-up. The 55-year-old teamed the casual yet chic look with tanned wedges, a netted small bag and wore her hair tied up in a low pony.

Her visit was shared on The Royal Family Instagram account. “Today The Countess of Wessex visited Thames Valley Air Ambulance to help launch their 21st anniversary celebrations. HRH is Patron of @tvairambulance,” the caption read.

“Next week marks National Air Ambulance Week, which recognises the vital lifesaving work of the Thames Valley Air Ambulance and the 20 other services in the UK.”

Sophie was also given a tour of the TVAA helicopter and the advanced medical equipment installed onboard and met critical care paramedics.

Royal fans were quick to praise Sophie on her efforts, with one writing: “Fantastic lady.” Another added: “Fab picture.” While a third wrote: “Sophie is one of my favourite royals. She goes along gets involved in a quiet manner but gets so much done.”

Sophie’s outing comes just a week after she graced her first magazine cover. The mother-of-two looked picture perfect as she posed for the cover of Good Housekeeping in the UK for their October issue in a beautiful white dress. Her hair was swept up into a stylish bun (her usual go-to hairstyle) while she wore minimal makeup and jewellery for the shoot.

Sophie sat down with the popular magazine to talk about all things social media and raising teens. In the candid interview, the 55-year-old opened up about her children saying they “aren’t into social media”. “At the moment, my children aren’t into social media, however, it is here to stay, so it’s important for them to understand it and for us to equip them with the tools to navigate it successfully,” the countess revealed.
