The royal family has marked Princess Anne’s birthday with the release of two gorgeous new photographs.
Over the past week the family has been sharing snaps of the Princess Royal, from her birth and through the years serving as a senior member of the royals. But now fans have been treated to new never-before-seen snaps taken earlier this year.
The gorgeous photos were snapped by photgrapher John Swannell at the princess’ home, Gatcombe Park, in February. But, have only just been released on social media in celebration of her 70th birthday on August 15.
In the first snap Anne looks lovely in an emerald green dress and gold brooch pinned to her chest. She sports her signature hair-do and adds a further pop of colour with a bright red lipstick.
Meanwhile, the second photograph is far more casual, with the Princess Royal wearing a pair of grey trousers paired with a red, yellow and green patterned shirt. She can be seen standing outside in front of a tree with her hand in her pocket.
The post shared on Instagram received plenty of attention from fans, who have wished Anne a very Happy Birthday and thanked her for her work serving the royal family over the years.
“Beautiful and what a lady she is,” @brownkaren90 wrote on Instagram. “Strong, beautiful and what British women are.”
While @shiobhain28 said: “Wonderful photos. Looking great for 70. Happy birthday for tomorrow.” And @suedennis1105 added: “Happy birthday M’am and thank you for all your hard work.”
The latest photos to be shared are just some of many uploaded to the royal family’s social media accounts in the lead up to Princess Anne’s birthday.
One of the photos showed a very happy and blonde Princess Anne smiling widely at the camera. The second image appears to be from Anne’s christening back in 1950 and sees her cradled by her mum, Queen Elizabeth II, with proud dad Prince Phillip sitting behind them and a little Prince Charles smiling timidly at the camera.
A third and fourth image shows Princess Anne posing alongside her older brother and mother, and then again with Prince Charles when they’re a bit older, while another shows the young royal playing with a horse. The last and final image shows a much older Anne and Charles posing alongside their parents.
