Meghan Markle has yet again made an enemy of the British press after the Duchess of Sussex paid tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

In her latest interview with Variety, Markle opens up about the honour and “deep gratitude” she felt to have known the Queen.

“What’s so beautiful is to look at the legacy that his [Prince Harry] grandmother was able to leave on so many fronts,” Markle said.

“Certainly, in terms of female leadership, she is the most shining example of what that looks like.”

She goes on to reflect on her relationship with the late Monarch, expressing how “special” and “fortunate” she felt during their first official engagement together.

“And I continue to be proud to have had a nice warmth with the matriarch of the family,” she said.

Though a touching message from the Duchess, GB News presenter Nana Akua wasn’t impressed.

Akua hit out at Markle as she reminded her viewers of the negative commentary the Duchess had previously directed at the Royal Family.

“So we should forget that you trashed the Royal Family on Oprah by putting it out there that someone in the Royal Family was a racist?” Akua said on the show.

“And if my memory serves me correctly I believe the Queen’s extremely polite and measured response to that was that ‘recollections may vary’.

“Meghan talks about how her California friends gathered around her after that ghastly interview.

“She said, ‘It’s like they knew exactly what I needed to feel in that moment. It meant and still means so very much to me, the power of sisterhood and female support can never be underestimated.’

“Shame you didn’t relate that to your own family and in fact, your own sister.”

Akua then proceeds to rip into Markle’s claims that the “public have misconceptions about her”.

“Look, you keep going out with a load of claptrap. I could give you a few reminders, but it’ll take too long,” Akua remarked.

“Okay. Remember the one about not being a prince? Or what about the Lion King one, the rejoicing in the streets.

“And what about the Sussex survivors club? They can’t all be making it up.”

Akua is the latest British journalist who has vocally expressed their dislike towards the former actress.

Earlier this month Piers Morgan took a swipe at Markle during an episode of his show, Uncensored.

Speaking with Royal expert Valentine Low and fellow journalists Isabel Oakeshott and Kevin Maguire, Morgan slammed Markle for referring to herself as a Princess, saying she’s exploiting the titles she and Prince Harry walked away from.

“She calls herself a princess on her podcast – little girls who grow up to make a real princess,” he said to his guests.

“You’re not a princess, you’re not a princess in any way.

“They do it quite deliberately to fuel the interest and commercial entities, and really the interest is based on them trashing their family.

“I mean without that, I’m not sure what we’re interested in, we don’t want to hear their woke homilies about life, do we?”
