Prince William is reportedly pulling out all the stops to make sure Princess Catherine has a birthday fit for a queen as she prepares to turn 42.

The Prince of Wales is said to be determined to make Catherine’s 42nd birthday, on Tuesday, January 9, extra special as the Princess has been under a lot of pressure following the publication of Omid Scobie’s explosive book Endgame.

As both Catherine and members of the Royal Family deal with the fallout from the release of the book, royal expert Jennie Bond has claimed that William has some magnificent surprises up his sleeve, all set to spoil his wife rotten on her special day.

“William will spoil [Kate] rotten this year, because it’s been a really tough time for her,” Bond revealed to OK Magazine.

“He’s probably got a little bit of romance in him somewhere, and even though he says he’s not a very good cook, Kate did tell Mary Berry that he’s quite good at breakfasts, so a special tray complete with a rose could arrive early for Kate.

“I imagine they will spend some quality time with their children, as it’s the last day of their Christmas holiday before they return to school, but perhaps a candle-lit champagne dinner will be on the cards.”

While William will reportedly pull out all the stops, the future King has previously admitted he hasn’t had a lot of luck when it comes to picking out gifts for his wife.

Appearing on the That’s Peter Crouch Podcast the Prince of Wales recalled the gifting mishap he made during the early stages of his blossoming relationship with Kate.

During the lighthearted recording session, host Peter Crouch shared that he had once bought his wife a raincoat, labelling it as the worst gift ever. However, William did one better, revealing that he had once left Kate confused after gifting her a pair of binoculars.

“I did get my wife a pair of binoculars once — she’s never let me forget that,” William said.

“That was early on in the courtship, that was,” he said, adding that he thought the gift “sealed the deal,” even taking the time to wrap them himself, hoping to woo Kate even more.

“They were really nice. I was trying to convince myself about it. I was like, ‘But these are really amazing, look how far you can see!’ She was looking at me going, ‘They’re binoculars, what’s going on?’ It didn’t go well. Honestly, I have no idea why I bought her a pair of binoculars,” he said.

Fortuitously for William, the unique and unexpected gift didn’t turn out to be a catastrophe, as the couple is now blissfully wedded with three adorable children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis
