Mike Tindall stands up for the Royal Family amidst years of criticism from Harry and Meghan

It’s no secret that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s relationship with the Royal Family is fraught with conflict with many attacks levelled at The Firm from the couple.

The trouble seemingly began following their departure from the Royal Family in 2020, commonly referred to as “Megxit”, which signaled a major shift in the traditional dynamics of the Monarchy. The pair chose to step away from their royal duties to pursue a more independent and private life, distancing themselves from the intense media scrutiny that had become a constant presence in their lives.

The decision was accompanied by revelations in a 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, where the couple candidly discussed their struggles within the royal institution. The interview shed light on the challenges they faced and strained relationships within the family, sparking widespread public discussion.

Since their departure, the pair have dominated headlines with bombshell interviews as well as Harry’s explosive memoir all adding to the ongoing critiques of the Royal Family.

While Harry and Meghan have never shied away from their criticisms, not all members of the extended family share the same views with Mike Tindall recently coming to the defence of the Royal Family.

In a new book, Tindall reflected on his experience with the Royal Family, offering a different view than that of Harry and Meghan.

“Believe it or not, marrying into the Royal Family was pretty easy for me,” he wrote, as per GB News.

“They were always nice to me, and I was always nice to them. Simple really.”

Elsewhere in the book, Tindall offered some kind words for his mother-in-law, Princess Anne, offering some insight into the nature of their conversations.

“With Princess Anne, it’s the conversation we have about rugby at Gloucester, or about Scotland after every Six Nations game,” he wrote.

“A lot of the time, it will be about a player. She’ll say to me, ‘Should he not be doing this more?’ And I’ll think, ‘You’re actually not that far off.’

“We were asking the same questions I had asked them before, but this time they were giving the answers to the public, rather than just to me.”
