Lisa Marie Presley struggled to process Elvis’ passing, claims her daughter

The untimely death of singer Lisa Marie Presley shocked the world and now one close family member has provided fans with an insight into her emotional state before her passing.

Lisa Marie was only nine years old when her father, music legend Elvis Presley, died. Now her daughter Riley Keough has opened up to Oprah Winfrey and claimed her mother never learned to cope with Elvis’ death and struggled to deal with her grief.

“Her grief was very…. I don’t think she knew how to process. It was a very private thing for her,” she told the talk show icon.

“She would listen to his music alone, if she was drunk, and cry.

“Yes, I would walk in her room, and she had speakers, because this was back in the day, and she would be sitting on the floor crying and she’d listen to her dad’s music.”

Keough spoke to Oprah while promoting her mother’s memoir, From Here to the Great Unknown, which she completed from her mother’s recordings.

The 35-year-old actor and producer has previously spoken about how she wanted to “reveal the core” of who her mother was.

“Because my mother was Elvis Presley’s daughter, she was constantly talked about, argued over and dissected,” Keough told People.

“What she wanted to do in her memoir, and what I hope I’ve done in finishing it for her, is to go beneath the magazine headline idea of her and reveal the core of who she was.

“To turn her into a three-dimensional human being: the best mother, a wild child, a fierce friend, an underrated artist, frank, funny, traumatised, joyous, grieving, everything that she was throughout her remarkable life. I want to give voice to my mother in a way that eluded her while she was alive.”

Lisa Marie sadly passed away at the age of 54 after reportedly suffering a cardiac arrest.

According to TMZ, she was rushed to hospital on Thursday, January 12, 2023, after emergency services attended the home of the 54-year-old where they performed CPR before taking her to hospital.

Lisa Marie was later farewelled during a moving memorial service at Graceland.
