Legendary entertainer Sir Tom Jones has provided fans with a health update following mounting concerns for the singer’s health.

Taking to social media, the 82-year-old  shared the news he’d undergone surgery for a second hip replacement.

Jones announced on Instagram that his healing was going well and thanked fans for their support.

“Papa has two new hips now!,” Jones wrote.

“For all those concerned and sent in well wishes, I am pleased to report my recent surgery went very well, I’m following orders and doing my physio, so happy to say I will be back soon!”

Fans of the 82-year-old shared their well-wishes to the star, saying perhaps his procedure was needed after “all those years of great hip movement”.

“Take it easy Tom get back soon,” one fan wrote.

“Great news Tom, so pleased to hear that. Can’t wait to see you back where you belong- on a stage, hopefully in Wales or just over the border.”

“I’m about to get a new knee too! Hope you make a swift recovery,” said another.

Jones’ procedure follows a recent performance where the entertainer remained seated for the majority of the show, relying on the assistance of a cane to stand.

The It’s Not Unusual hitmaker recently toured the United States as part of his Surrounded By Time tour where he delighted fans with crowd-pleasing performances of his greatest hits.

Although crowds were no doubt left overjoyed during his latest performance, his use of a cane was cause for concern for some of his adoring fans.

However, the singer had previously revealed to fans that he’d undergone hip replacement surgery and would sometimes “sit on a stool” during part of his performances, stating that “everybody loves it”.

“My voice is still in great shape. Everything is ticking away nicely,” he said.

During a recent press conference, Jones explained that he had his left hip replaced “five years ago and it worked great” but that now his “right hip is starting to go”.

“Wear and tear! So at the moment, I’m bone on bone! That’s what the fella [doctor] told me,” he told ITV.

Proving his commitment to the old adage that the show must go on, Jones had originally postponed his surgery, instead choosing to honour his tour commitments.
