Christie Brinkley may have recently undergone hip replacement surgery, but she’s back on her feet and embracing life once again, and she says there’s one thing in particular that is helping with her recovery.

Taking to social media recently to share an update on her rehabilitation, the 66-year-old said swimming has been the best and “most fun” way to heal following surgery.

Posing in her swimmers at the beach with flippers and a snorkel in hand, Christie wrote on Instagram: “I found swimming to be great rehab for my hip! Def the most fun too! I kept the scar covered from the sun for better healing, but one of the bandaids fell off. I wish I could start every day with a snorkel! Hope you are all diving into a beautiful day!”

Her post received a lot of attention from fans, some of whom have also undergone hip surgery and spent hours swimming to help with the recovery process.

“Swimming is the best hip rehab!” @yahbaddie commented on the Instagram post. While @the sabrina77 said: “A daily swim in the ocean is the best!” And @kelleyjf16 added: “Great rehab and fabulous exercise.”

Meanwhile, others praised Christie for keeping so fit and healthy and not letting her age slow her down.

“Christie, you’re an amazing inspiration to all,” @kavm_insta wrote. “You not only stay active, in shape and look great for your age, but you also have a good heart, positive attitude, happy demeanour and appreciate life.”

And @rubysugar69 said: “Out of all the models growing up, you were my favourite! Nice to see that you have remained such a beauty. Taking care of yourself has certainly paid off. Looking fit and fabulous! Bravo!”

Christie’s latest post comes just two weeks after she revealed the surprising news of her hip replacement on Instagram, alongside a snap of herself sitting on a boat showing her toned legs.

“New Year, New Hip!” the caption read. “Yes that’s a bandaid on my hip. I injured my hip in a back country skiing helicopter crash on a mountaintop in Telluride many years ago. The pain in my hip got a little worse each year.

“Twelve years ago I was told it needed to be replaced, but the surgery was daunting! And I had things to do! But quarantine put a damper on any plans so I decided to finally take time for myself and do something about the pain that had progressively influenced my decisions.”

Christie then went on to say that she underwent surgery in November and was up and “dancing in her kitchen” by New Year’s Eve.

“I’m writing all this to say if you’ve been putting something off that could improve your wellbeing but hesitate out of some sort of fear, I suggest learning as much as you can about the process and the results and expectations,” she said. “I found the best doctor for my circumstances and voila! I can’t tell you how happy I am to have done this.”
