Bob Saget’s family have revealed his cause of death in a recent statement given to NBC News. In the statement, Saget’s family shared that found it necessary to announce the cause of his death themselves, explaining in the statement that “it is only proper that the fans hear conclusions directly from us”.
“The authorities have determined that Bob passed from head trauma. They have concluded that he accidentally hit the back of his head on something, thought nothing of it and went to sleep,” the statement read.
They went on to reveal that no mitigating factors were involved in his premature death.
“No drugs or alcohol were involved,” they wrote. At the time of Saget’s death, it was announced that there did not seem to be any alcohol or drug involvement.
The local examiner Joshua Stephany confirmed the family’s statement on Thursday, stating Saget’s death was “the result of blunt head trauma” that likely occurred due to an “unwitnessed fall”.

“In consideration of the circumstances surrounding the death … it is my opinion that the death of Robert Saget, a 65-year-old white male found unresponsive in a hotel room, is the result of a blunt head trauma,” he confirmed.
“It is most probable that the decedent suffered an unwitnessed fall backwards and struck the posterior aspect of his head.”
Saget’s family asked fans to “remember the love and laughter that Bob brought to this world, and the lessons he taught us all: to be kind to everyone, to let the people know you love them, and to face difficult times with hugs and laughter.”
