She may be one of the best tennis champions in the world but Serena Williams have proven that she’s just like everyone else when it comes to parenting.

The newly-married tennis star recently took to social media for some parenting advice.

Times have certainly changed.

Speaking to her 10.1 million Twitter followers, the 36-year-old posted a photo and asked a question about breastfeeding.

“How long did you breastfeed?” she asked.

“Is it weird that I get emotional when I even just think about when it’s time to stop?”

In the photo, the proud mother could be seen nursing her daughter Alexis Olympia.

Williams’ message got thousands of responses from mums all around the world.

How did parents survive in the days before Twitter and the internet?

One lady wrote: “3.5 years (and I did it on the down low for another 1.5 years). My son didn’t want to stop. Best decision I made. Every child is different. He’s my only and I wouldn’t do anything differently.”

A second person added: “I nursed my older daughter until she was almost 2. Still going with my 1 year old right now. You’ll know when it’s time to stop. Enjoy! She is beautiful.”

A third message read: “I felt the same way. Then one day when he was 13 months old, my son turned away when I tried to nurse him and basically said ‘no thanks’. He made the decision for me. I was really sad, but then realised I could have margaritas again.”

It’s not the first time Williams has shared big moments in her life on Twitter.

Just last month, the athlete shared photos from her wedding day on the social media website.
