A routine police patrol was parked outside a popular bar in the outback.
After last call at the bar, the police officer noticed a man leaving that looked so drunk he could hardly walk.
The man stumbled around the car park for several minutes, while the officer watched on quietly.
After what seemed like an eternity, the man tried putting his keys in six different cars, but had no luck. Finally, he found his car and fell into it.
The man eventually started the car, switched the wipers on and off, flicked the blinkers and honked the horn. He moved the car forward a few inches, then back and remained in the car park until he was the last car left.
When he attempted to drive away, the police officer pulled out and chased after him. He pulled the man over and performed a random breath test.
To his shock, the breathalyser indicated the man had consumed no alcohol at all.
Confused, the officer informed the man he would need to accompany him to the local police station.
“I’ve been watching you all night,” he said to the man. “This equipment must be broken.”
“I doubt it,” the man said smugly. “Tonight I am the designated decoy.”
