Discover the two-ingredient ‘secret solution’ for sparkling white surfaces

There is something relaxing about white surfaces in a house. White-coloured walls and benches can make a home feel uncluttered and calming. But white surfaces are also a pain to keep clean, and a bit of dirt will turn that space into a big hot mess

But one cleaner has come to our aid and demonstrated how his “secret solution” will banish dust and grime from your serene white spaces.

Andre, from andralifehack regularly shares household tips on social media, and now in his latest video, the TikTok cleaner shows how he cleaned a dirty window ledge with a homemade liquid and a small plastic brush.

“You won’t be able to buy this solution in stores,” he says.

The video then shows how he achieved his results.

Firstly, add one tablespoon of baking soda and 2 tablespoons of organic dishwashing liquid to a jar filled with 200 ml of tap water, then stir until all ingredients are combined.

Next, pour a thin layer of the solution over your dirty surface and leave it to sit for 20 minutes.

“Even before you start scrubbing the solution has removed some stains,” he says.

After that, start scrubbing with a small plastic brush then dry.

And voila! A spotlessly clean white window ledge.

And this is not the only way to incorporate baking soda into your cleaning routine. TikTok sensation Mindy Hyer recently found that a simple homemade paste effortlessly banishes grease stains from glass baking dishes.

Hyer shared her transformative cleaning process in a recent video that has since garnered widespread attention and praise.

“I’ve done some research, and they’re saying make a paste with Dawn dish soap and baking soda (bi-carb soda),” Mindy enthusiastically revealed in her video. The beauty of this hack is its simplicity, utilising common household items to achieve outstanding results.

Any washing-up detergent will work just as effectively as the key is in the combination of dish soap and baking soda, creating a powerful cleaning paste that works wonders on even the most stubborn grease stains.

In the video, Hyer demonstrates her method by applying the cleaning paste to the edges and handles of a grease-stained glass dish. After allowing the paste to sit for 30 minutes to an hour, she uses a small brush and some water to scrub away the grime.

Even during the scrubbing stage, Hyer expressed her satisfaction, exclaiming, “This may have worked!”

The video concludes with a jaw-dropping reveal – the glass baking dish is completely transformed, with only a small amount of baked-on grease remaining on the inside of the handle.
