It was in 2005 that the Duke of Cambridge carried out work experience in the Radiotherapy department at The Royal Marsden.

Now the 34-year-old has been president of the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust for ten years; the largest and most comprehensive cancer centre in Europe which treats over 50,000 NHS and Private patients every year. Princess Diana had previously held the position.

Prince William celebrated the decade long milestone with a visit to the centre. Staff shared this flashback to the work experience times, as well as images from his recent visit.

While he was there he took the time to visit some of the patients, and helped fit a name tag and blood pressure cuff onto six-year-old Daisy Wood, who has leukaemia, during the tour. He also chatted to other sick children and their families .

Express reported the visit also gave him time to catch up with a radiotherapy aide who supervised him while he was on work experience. Fiona Bragg said at that time they introduced him as William to patients and many did not recognise him.  “It’s a long time ago. I really enjoyed myself,” William said. “I’m always available for a bank holiday weekend if you need someone to help out.”

Are you happy to see Prince William doing these sort of visits?
