Princess Anne has sent a personal and heartfelt message to the millions of carers around the country in conjunction with Carers Week in the UK, thanking the many committed people who are dedicating their time to help their loved ones.

In a video shared to the royal family’s Instagram page, the 69-year-old could be seen sitting in her office at her country home at Gatcombe Park in England. Wearing her hair in its usual up-do, the Princess Royal looked lovely as she addressed the nation, wearing a navy blue blazer over a crisp white shirt.

During the short, but sweet speech, Anne expressed her thanks to hardworking carers and said the work they do is vital and should not be forgotten.

“If you are an unpaid family carer, thank you so much for everything you do to care for those who cannot care for themselves,” she said in the video. “This Carers Week and always, please know that your role is a vital one. One to be highlighted and celebrated and one that should never be forgotten. Thank you.”

The message was well received by royal fans who flooded the Instagram post with comments of thanks to the Princess Royal. While others shared their own stories of carers and the impact the work they have done has had.

“Thank you your Royal Highness,” @fiona_claire_h commented. “I am a carer and most especially a mum for my adult disabled daughter. Your work and words of recognition mean so much.”

“Well said by one of the hardest working royals. Highlight all the hard work people do for love not money,” @dancingqueendawn65 said. While @laurel_house_2016 wrote: “Such a good lady! And she sounds so much like her mother!” And @mrs_cat_124 added: “I never realised how much Princess Anne sounds like her mum! Beautiful hardworking lady.”

Meanwhile, the royal family is also celebrating Prince Philip’s 99th birthday and this week they marked the occasion by releasing a brand new photograph of the Duke of Edinburgh with Her Majesty the Queen. The new photo was taken just last week in the grounds of Windsor Castle, where the royal couple have been self isolating since the outbreak of coronavirus. It was shared on the royal family’s official social media accounts in honour of Philip’s milestone birthday.

It shows the monarch standing proudly beside her husband of more than 70 years, both dressed smartly and smiling warmly at the camera. Her Majesty is wearing a beautiful grey frock, featuring a yellow floral design, with her signature handbag hooked over her arm, while Prince Philip looks dapper in a double breasted jacket complete with tie and pocket square.

“This new photograph of The Duke of Edinburgh and The Queen was taken last week in the quadrangle at Windsor Castle to mark His Royal Highness’s 99th birthday tomorrow,” the post on Instagram read.
