Deborah Hutton has urged Aussies to take care of their health after undergoing surgery to remove two skin cancers from her face.

The model and TV star took to social media this week to share the frightening news with followers, posting a shocking photo of her stitches which run from her nose to her mouth. In the Instagram post, the 58-year-old said she feels “extremely grateful” that all the cancer has now been removed, however, it pays as an urgent reminder to others to get their skin checked regularly.

The TV personality went on to say that it’s not the first time she’s had a cancer scare, and while the scar may not look pretty right now, her skin will heal and she’ll go on with her life.

“My skin will heal and in the coming months you’ll hardly see the scar,” she wrote. “I’ve been here before nine years ago. Skin heals beautifully but only if you give it the chance before it’s too late. Extremely grateful to my surgeon and nurses who looked after me. Huge thanks.”

Fans have praised her for speaking out and having the courage to share the photo with others. While many others shared their own experience with skin cancer and how important it is to look after your health and get your skin checked as often as possible.

“You’re very brave Deborah … I can relate to this,” @my_coastal_life said. “I had half my cheek removed nine years ago from melanoma and skin cancer on my nose one year ago, after I read your story in the Sunday paper. I had the teeniest clear dot … next day doctors, then huge operation the following week. Keep safe and beautiful.”

“Well done for sharing this important message Deb. You are not only brave for posting this confronting photo, but very generous, responsible and caring of others,” @deborahthomas10 wrote. While @georgiamoxham added: “You’re so inspirational to share this with us! Keep well beautiful Deborah.”
