Julie Bishop has certainly turned heads with her stylish ensembles in the past but the former pollie has taken it to the next level, posing in three stunning ball gowns in a rare glamorous photoshoot for a top Australian magazine.

The 63-year-old dolled up for the special occasion, looking the picture of elegance and grace on the front cover of the Australian Financial Review’s Luxury magazine with her figure on full display. In the first of the photos, Bishop sports a silver bedazzled taupe full-length gown which fitted in at the waist before flowing out in a beautiful train.

Posing side on to the camera, the former foreign affairs minister flashed a gorgeous smile with a pretty pearl bracelet glittering on her wrist. Meanwhile, the second snap showed off Bishop’s confident personality, as she stood straight on with a hand placed firmly on her hip while looking off into the distance.

The dark navy one shoulder dress was the perfect fit for the former pollie, again tucking in at the waist and billowing out to a train around her. Adding more glitz and glamour to the look, Bishop opted for a chunky silver ring and bangle, while her blonde locks were styled in her usual cropped hair-do.

For the third and final outfit, the previous deputy leader of the Liberal Party chose a more colourful look in a bold blue sequinned, long-sleeved dress. Instead of posing in a powerful standing position, Bishop chose to sit comfortably for the shot, giving a closer look at her simple yet beautiful makeup.

Smiling straight at the camera the ex pollie brightened up the look with a swipe of blush to her cheeks and a pink lip, while she opted for a pair of silver and blue dangly earrings to match the stunning outfit. The images were shared to Bishop’s social media account, with the former politician explaining how grateful she was for the opportunity to take part in the shoot.

“Thank you @luxuryafr for showcasing Australian fashion – our fabulous creative designers, manufacturers, stylists, jewellers, photographers, retailers all take a bow as we celebrate our passion for fashion,” she wrote on Instagram. Fans were quick to comment with the likes of TV presenter Lisa Wilkinson complimenting Bishop for the gorgeous looks.

“Stunning!” The Project host simply wrote. While fellow Aussies followed suit with one person writing: “What beautiful images. Celebrating the elegance of women in their prime.” And another who said: “Could you look anymore beautiful, just stunning Jules.”

Meanwhile, a third added: “Thank you for standing out and standing up for women with style, strength and intelligence. When you shine you allow others to do the same.” Despite stepping away from politics, Bishop hasn’t strayed from the public eye, spotted late last month at an event, donning a gorgeous mini dress.

Fashion is fickle game and history has taught us it’s only a matter of time before what’s old is new again. That appears to be the case for one of the most iconic looks from the 1960s – mini dresses – and we’ve got Bishop to thank for its comeback.

The former minister for foreign affairs struck a pose in the stunning shift dress which featured a striking zip-front design – a style which was hugely popular in the ’60s – and hung just above her knees, revealing her toned legs and a pair of classy black stiletto heels. Looking as stylish as ever, Julie smiled broadly for the cameras at the event just weeks ago.

The 63-year-old was a stand out at the event, pairing the fitted dress with a pair of stunning silver, dangly earrings. Meanwhile, Julie also made a statement with her cropped hair do. Taking to social media following the outing Julie posted a gorgeous photo of herself, with the caption: “Fabulous book launch last night for @julietrieden‘The Writing on the Wall’ a must-read! @macmillanaus.” Many fans were quick to comment on the stunning image, with one writing: “Yep still the hottest intelligent leader of the world.”
