She’s one of Australia’s most recognisable politicians and Tasmanian Senator Jacqui Lambie has debuted a glamorous new look at this year’s Federal Parliament Press Gallery Midwinter Ball. The 48-year-old ditched her usual parliamentary business attire for an elegant gown that turned heads at Canberra’s night of nights.

The former I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! contestant wowed in a gold and champagne-coloured dress, complete with a sheer cape and sleeves. The gorgeous gown featured beautiful embroidery and a stunning pattern and complimented the mother-of-two in all the right places.

Jacqui accessorised with a gold pair of shoes and earrings, a sparkling clutch and wore her luscious brunette locks in a sleek style for the ball. She later took to Instagram to gush about her outfit.

Fans couldn’t get enough of the politician’s look and flooded her Instagram page with comments. One person wrote: “Now that’s pretty gorgeous for a rebel! You’re knockin’ ‘em dead in so many ways.”

Another comment read: “Well don’t you look a million bucks!! Have a fantastic night,” while a third added: “Now that’s what I call a beautiful dress.. You look gorgeous.”

The Midwinter Ball is the premier social event on the political calendar and brings journalistic, political and corporate chiefs of Australia together for memorable night full of entertainment and networking opportunities – all in the name of charity. Some of the ball’s guests include the senior ranks of all parliamentary parties such as the prime minister and leader of the opposition, as well as the heads of corporate Australia and the Federal Parliamentary Press Gallery.

The ball has raised $4,113,000 to date for an array of charities including the Luke Batty Foundation, Rare Cancers Australia, Soldier On, The Indigenous Reading Project, Lifeline Australia, Spinal Cure Australia, Open Family Australia, The Newborn Intensive Care Foundation, the Smith Family’s Learning for Life Program and The Fred Hollows Foundation.

Of course, Jacqui wasn’t the only familiar face at the ball, with Scott Morrison’s wife Jenny turning heads in a vibrant outfit. The 51-year-old ditched a ball gown and instead opted for an emerald green silk jumpsuit.

Jenny accessorised with a pair of gold heels, a golden purse and a chunky necklace and wore her brunette locks in curls. She happily posed alongside her husband at the event. Clearly impressed by his wife’s outfit, the PM shared a beautiful snap of the pair on Facebook.

“Doesn’t Jen look gorgeous,” he said to his followers. “We’re off to a ball tonight in Canberra.”

It wasn’t just the women who made an effort in the style department though, as controversial politician Bob Katter turned heads thanks to his choice of outfit. While the member for Kennedy looked sharp in a suit, he added a pop of colour by accessorising with a bright red scarf.
