If you’ve got a look you like, why not work it at every opportunity, as Amal Clooney does, in yet another eye-catching outfit.

The lawyer and wife of actor George Clooney frequently chooses hemlines of dramatically different lengths, as well as outfits that involve an overskirt on top of trousers or a much shorter skirt – and if you have legs that long and slim, you can hardly blame her for not wanting to hid them under billowing fabric!

This time Amal and husband George were at the American Film Institute’s 46th Life Achievement Award Gala that was held in tribute to George Clooney himself in Hollywood, California, on June 7. Clooney was dapper in a traditional, single-breasted tuxedo, while Amal glammed it up in shimmery baby pink, with a bow-fronted dress that had off-the-shoulder sleeves, a slim-fitting bodice and looser overskirt on top of a more daring mini.

She completed the look with a matching clutch and strappy heels in a champaign colour, big drop earrings with pink stones and her hair tumbling over one shoulder in old-Hollywood structured waves. Subtle pink-toned make-up let her dramatic dress, which was shot through the overskirt with bolder streaks of gold, do all the talking.

The Clooneys most recently had their glad-rags on for the royal wedding on May 19, where Amal wore a dramatic canary-yellow dress with an asymetrical hem and hat that was widely judged one of the nicer outfits of the day. But at the fashion-fabulous Met Gala, also in May, she went for a much more avant garde ensemble, again with an overskirt over a pair of shiny black trousers and a space-age silver corset top.

E!Online reported that George Clooney was helped celebrate at his award gala by friends including Jennifer Aniston, Jimmy Kimmel and Australia’s own Cate Blanchett, while former US president Barack Obama appeared in a pre-taped video message on screen during the event.

Amal, whose pink gown was by top-tier design house Prada, gave loving speech about her husband in which she referred to his gentlemanly demeanour, which hides his love of a cheeky prank. “He is the person who has my complete admiration and also the person whose smile makes me melt every time,” she said. “I’m proud of you, but I also know that when our children find out not only what you have done, but who you are, they will be so proud of you too.”
