Skating legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have blown away crowds with a rare and stunning performance on talent show Dancing on Ice in the UK.
The much-loved performers, who rose to fame in 1984 with their jaw-dropping Bolero routine at the Olympics, proved that age is not a barrier when it comes to their talent as they stepped onto the ice at the show’s finale.
Showing grace and beauty, the two glided across the ice with ease, spinning in circles as the crowd watched on in awe, cheering the pair along throughout the breathtaking performance.
Torvill and Dean highlighted just how special their friendship still is after all these years, with Torvill showing ultimate trust as Dean picked her up and glided across the ice.
As if they were back 35 years ago, Dean then took one of Torvill’s hands and feet, spinning her close to the ground before lifting her up and flipping her across his shoulder.
The two ice skating legends were joined by the team of professional skaters who appear on the show, in the final moments – all joining hands as the crowd launched into roaring applause.
The tear-jerking performance has since been shared online with fans showing their love and respect for the pair who continue to win hearts along the world.
“There are no words to describe the talent of @torvilleanddean. Just wow #idols,” one person wrote on Twitter. “Even after 35 years, Torvill and Dean are still such beautiful skaters. A real joy to watch,” another added.
While a third said: “Could’ve happily watched Torvill and Dean skate for hours, superb that”.
Although the two seem full of confidence when on the ice, they have admitted their bodies aren’t as strong as they used to be.
Speaking to The Mirror recently, Dean explained their age is starting to affect their abilities.
“Do we feel those 35 years in our bodies? Yes!” he told the publication. “You reach a certain age and that downward slope. Nowadays every time we perform we feel like we don’t know if that’s out last performance.
“So each time we skate it feels like a little added bonus. It’s quite sentimental. We like performing together, but there is an emotion each time we skate now.”
The famous couple wowed audiences at the Sarajevo Games in Yugoslavia in 1984, with their incredible Bolero routine. They were the first duo to get top scores from every single judge on the panel, and it paved a career in the spotlight for the pair of them – ending with their current gig on Dancing On Ice.
The beloved skating duo have remained close friends over the years, spotted late last year for the launch of the series.
Torvill and Dean, who have been a double act for more than 45 years, dressed to impress as they stepped out in London for the star-studded event.
