Last week it was revealed that Karl Stefanovic’s ex-wife Cassandra Thorburn would be taking part in Dancing with the Stars, and now the full line-up has finally been announced.

The TV talent show is set to return to Australian screens in February and Channel 10 have signed up a whole host of household names who will be waltzing their way onto the dance floor in a matter of weeks alongside mum-of-three Cassandra.

The former journalist, who divorced ex-Today host Karl in 2016, revealed she was unsure about taking on the challenge at first, but revealed how her late father convinced her to give the talent show a go before he passed away.

“I decided to do it because it was one of the last conversations I had with my dad before he passed away,” she said. “It had been offered to me and at first I thought, no that’s crazy. I couldn’t possibly do that. If you don’t do something, an opportunity that you never thought would come up and if you said no … you will regret it one day. And I thought ‘OK so let’s go for it’.”

Joining Cassandra when the show debuts on Monday 18 February will be Studio 10 favourite Denise Scott who is the oldest star to have signed up to take part in the talent competition this year, along with Australian Idol star Courtney Act and actor turned charity fundraiser Samuel Johnson and former West Indies test cricketer Sir Curtly Ambrose.

She might be 63, but Denise reckons her age won’t hold her back, saying: “People do like to cheer on the underdog. Surely being the oldest in something doesn’t make you an underdog, it just makes you old.”

Neighbours star Olympia Valance will also take part in the show, revealing she’s keen to learn the tango so she can show off her skills the next time she finds herself in a salsa bar.

Jett Kenny, the son of surf lifesaver Grant Kenny and triple Olympian Lisa Curry, admitted his sister convinced him to take part in the competition, while fitness professional Michelle Bridges said she’s often known to stay put on the dance floor all night long at weddings.

Completing the line-up are TV chef Miguel Maestre, children’s TV star Jimmy Rees, aka Jimmy Giggle, and ‘mummy blogger’ and social media star Constance Hall.

Channel 10 announced it was reviving the show in November, with Grant Denyer and Amanda Keller to host the star-studded series that puts celebrities through their paces with a challenging new dance routine every week.

Past competitors include Pauline Hanson, Chris Hemsworth, Kerri-Anne Kennerley and Johnny Ruffo, who took home the winner’s trophy in 2012.

The show originally aired on Channel Seven for 15 successful seasons before being shelved in 2015 when former weather girl Emma Freedman won the final series.

The American version of the show, now in its 26th season, airs on CBS, the major US network that now owns Channel Ten in Australia.
