Frail Burt Reynolds makes rare red carpet appearance

We might not see or hear much about Burt Reynolds these days, so when he makes an appearance, it’s certainly of interest to a lot of his fans.

The 81-year-old actor, who starred in films such as Smokey and the Bandit and the Longest Yard, appeared on the red carpet at a film festival in the US.

Unfortunately the frail actor wasn’t so sure on his feet and he needed some assistance from fellow actors Robert De Niro and Chevy Chase along the way.

But that didn’t stop him from being in good spirits – and he certainly had a lot to say.

“I guess I’m doing all right, I think, because it’s a hell of a turnout,” the New York Daily News reports he said on the red carpet at the Tribeca Film Festival, where he was promoting his latest film.

“Great to see Mr. De Niro, who I love, and… you know, all the people that I know. It’s very sweet.”

While the actors health has declined in recent years, and his public appearances have become few and far between, Reynolds certainly hasn’t lost his spark or his wit.

On the red carpet he had a wisecrack to make about young actors.

“You don’t learn from young actors,” he said, according to the New York Daily News.

“You just tell them how to behave.”
