It’s being heralded as the most “Aussie way” to shut down a racist

We have, unfortunately, gotten used to hearing about racist outbursts on public transport, but one Aussie shared the tale of an official shutting it down.

Facebook user Nicolas John shared the story on his page about the “Opal Lady” coming down the train checking people’s passes.  When she arrived at an Argentinian man, who had the wrong ticket. He tried to explain to her through broken English that he got his ticket from a bus driver when another passenger shouted, “Fine him, love. F***ing foreigners.” He then added, “F*** off back to Iran mate”.

The “Opal Lady” wasn’t impressed with the behaviour. She ended up printing an all day pass for the Argentinian and apologised to him for “the way that SOME Australians think it’s OK to speak to people”. She then turned her attention to the unruly passenger and gave him a fine. When the man yelled, “What’s the charge?”, the “Opal Lady” reportedly said for “Being a c***.”

The comments from other users were in big support of the “Opal Lady” with one person posting, “Oh she’s a champion #onyaluv”, and another posted, “This made me laugh hard. Very hard. Balance has been restored and faith in Opal Lady gone up. Nice one.”
