Did Gordon Ramsay’s horrifying ‘prank’ cross the line?

Getting a cut on your finger or a burn is part of the job of being a chef. However, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay took a “kitchen safety” message to the extreme on a UK talk show.

The segment started off as an interview, but when the talk turned to food, Gordon invited comedian Frank Skinner over to the cooking station to make him a smoothie.  From the moment Gordon walked over to the cooking stage he was having “problems”. First, he had to dress in his chef top, so he stripped for the audience to many cat calls.

Gordon then had a few issues with the stage managers as he didn’t have a knife and a few things were out of whack. It was when the blender didn’t work that Gordon started to get mad. “For f**k’s sake,” he yelled as a stage hand tried to fix the blender. Gordon told the man to wait as he reached in the blender but the stage hand didn’t wait and turned on the appliance. “Blood” went everywhere and Gordon hit the stage swearing up a storm.

“S**t, f**king hell, s**t!” Gordon yelled before targeting the stagehand, “I told you to f**king wait”. Perhaps seeing his career flash before his eyes, Frank Skinner said to the camera and the shocked audience, “Some of you might think this is a joke, not if you’re sitting where I’m sitting”.

After a few tense moment, Gordon leapt to his feet and yelled: “Got you!”

Everyone let out an uncomfortable laugh before the show continued.  Many online thought it was a poor joke with one commentator saying “That was cringe as f*** cause 1. Guest didn’t care 2. Blood ain’t that color 3. Dragged out too long.” While others labelled it “not funny” and others called it “brilliant”.

What did you think of the prank?  Was it funny or not funny? Did it go too far?
