Sometimes, things are better expressed in verse

All the Prime Minister wanted was funds for a garden shed.

The Garden Shed

(with sincere apologies to AA Milne)

The PM checked his Bunnings quote

Then went to ask his Treasurer

If he could have some extra funds

To build a garden shed

For when Parliament’s not sitting

He thought it rather fitting

He fix things around the Lodge

“And in the garden too,” he said

The Treasurer said, “Hmm, maybe

But I better ask my deputy

I’ll send him a text message now

Before he goes to bed.”

The deputy soon answered

“Go and tell Prime Minister

I’m not sure we could justify

Some funds to build a shed

‘Cos all the PMs nowadays

Use handymen instead.”

So then the trusted Treasurer

Reported to Prime Minister

“Speaking of the funds you need

To build your garden shed

It seems that PMs nowadays

Use handymen instead.”

The PM said “Oh, come on, sport”

And then he said “It’s not a rort

I only want a few more funds

To build a garden shed”

“No-one,” he said

“Could call this extravagant

If all I want is extra funds

To build a garden shed!”

The Treasurer then said wearily

And then a little cautiously

“Maybe I could find funds you need

But I suggest, perhaps

Because it’s not quite in the rules

We best keep it under wraps.”

The PM jumped up eagerly

And shouted loud (and cheekily)

“No-one” he said

Could call me extravagant

For all I wanted was

Some extra funds to build a shed.”
