Prepare your smartphones and get ready to embark on a quest of civic duty and adventure as the beloved Great Dunny Hunt makes its return.
Backed by the Continence Foundation of Australia, the nationwide initiative is urging all Aussies to join forces and update the National Public Toilet Map website or app with the latest public restroom details.
From March 29 to June 16, coinciding with the commencement of World Continence Week, Aussies are encouraged to contribute by sharing new public toilet information. Whether it’s adding photos, specifying amenities, or noting access hours, every update aids in creating a more comprehensive resource.
The importance of this endeavour cannot be overstated, especially with over five million Australians currently grappling with incontinence, a number expected to rise to 6.5 million by 2030.
While the significance of knowing restroom locations might be overlooked by some, for many Australians, it’s a matter of empowerment:
Thanks to previous Dunny Hunts, the National Public Toilet Map now boasts over 23,000 listings. Those contributing to the map are encouraged to complete a brief survey to ensure the resource continues to serve its purpose effectively.
Acting CEO of the Continence Foundation of Australia, Paula Hay, emphasised the importance of community involvement in “developing a critical resource for many who experience incontinence”.
“We are very excited to find out how we can continue to provide greater support for the one in four Australians impacted by incontinence,” Hay said.
