What Not To Wear’s Susannah Constantine dazzles in sequins and tassels

No doubt it’s an outfit she wouldn’t have been seen dead in during her time on hit BBC show What Not To Wear, but TV presenter Susannah Constantine looked every inch the ballroom dancer in a glitzy orange number at the red carpet launch of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

The 56-year-old television personality signed up to take part in the BBC dance competition, having already tackled I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2015, despite being voted out first.

Susannah won’t take to the dance floor for another few weeks, with the show set to hit UK screens on September 8, but the fashion expert treated us to a sneak peek of her show-stopping outfits as she posed alongside her co-stars on the red carpet in London on Monday.

Dressed in a gorgeous orange number Susannah certainly looked the part, as she showed off her moves at the launch event alongside her co-stars, including philanthropist Katie Piper, who was the victim of an acid attack in 2008, and retired cricket star Graeme Swann.

The stunning frock, every inch covered with glittering sequins, clung to her curves, stopping just below her hips to allow a full tasselled skirt to fan out, stopping just above her knees.

Susannah’s glamorous look was finished off with a pair of gold heeled sandals, opting for dramatic make-up with a signature Strictly spray tan, smoky eyeshadow and finished off with a lick of lipstick.

Writing in an opinion piece for the Daily Mail, Susannah revealed that she felt most comfortable in the wardrobe department of the BBC One show, thanks to her background as a fashion writer and advisor.

“My initial introduction to my new Strictly life was far closer to my comfort zone: a costume fitting for all those fabulous dresses,” she said.

“I’ve worked with the best of the best in the fashion industry and I can tell you that the Strictly seamstresses are right up there. The first thing I had to do was stand in my underwear – all hairy legs and no spray tan in sight – while they measured every conceivable part of my body; elbow to shoulder, bum to knee, boob to collarbone, the width of my back and many more. I tried on a few outfits and moved around while they cast an expert eye over me.

It’s clear that there’s an awful lot more to designing a ballroom outfit than meets the eye.”
