It’s rare to see the Queen drop her perfect composure in front of the cameras, but new footage taken behind the walls of Buckingham Palace has now revealed the moment she briefly let her guard down while recording a speech.
A camera crew was given access to the monarch as she recorded her Christmas speech last year, as part of new documentary Queen of the World – set to air on Channel 7 next week.
In one particularly notable scene, a nervous production crew member was left stumbling over his words when he stopped the Queen mid-speech and asked her to re-do the entire passage from the top, as it had been interrupted by loud bird noises outside.
Stopping Her Majesty, he explained the bird noises had become too loud, before asking her to “redo it from the top”. The crew member’s request was met with a fairly steely gaze from the Queen as she looked up and asked: “From the top of the second page?”

Looking decidedly nervous at this point, he replied, “From the very start… if possible.”
Clearly shocked at the request, the Queen immediately broke into laughter and looked around her incredulously, leaving the poor crew member to hastily put his earphones back on to get back down to business.
Sharing the clip on their official Instagram page, the royal family explained: “The Christmas Broadcast is an important part of Christmas Day celebrations for many in Britain, the Commonwealth and around the world.
“The first Christmas Broadcast was delivered by The Queen’s grandfather George V in 1932.”
It sent fans wild with one commenting: “She is so lovely! Love her!” While another added: “He was literally stuttering when asking the Majesty to redo the page.”
Meanwhile one wrote: “THAT WAS BRAVE !! Should have gone out and shot the birds himself rather than ask the Queen to do that !!!”
Elsewhere in the documentary, Prince Harry’s new wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, revealed how she surprised her husband with a special touch added to her wedding dress, making her ‘something blue’ a moving nod to their first date together.

Opening up on some of the secrets behind her Givenchy gown in the rare and candid interview, the Duchess of Sussex, 37, revealed she had a patch of fabric from the outfit she wore on her first date with Harry sewn in to the dress as her ‘something blue’.
She was speaking to a curator of the Royal Collection at Buckingham Palace, where her dress will now be displayed, and she responded to the new royal: “Oh, that’s about the most romantic thing I’ve heard.”

Elsewhere in the footage, the duchess focused on her stunning 15ft wedding veil and admitted her choice to include embroidered floral decorations representing all 53 Commonwealth nations was a surprise for Harry.
She said: “[It was] a fun surprise for my now husband, who didn’t know, and he was really over the moon to find out that I would make this choice for our day together.”
Meghan added: “I think the other members of the family had a similar reaction, and just appreciation for the fact that we understand how important this is for us and the role that we play.”
The duchess’ decision mirrored that of the Queen for her Coronation gown in 1953, in a sweet nod to her husband’s grandmother on their special day.
Part 1 of Queen of the World will air on Tuesday, October 2 at 7.30pm on Channel 7, while Part 2 will air the following day, Wednesday, October 3, at the same time.
