Despite an already whirlwind year, King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark have taken time out of their busy schedules to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary with a loving photo, much to the delight of royal enthusiasts.

After ascending the throne earlier this year, the royal couple has been hard at work fulfilling a number of official engagements and even as they celebrate their milestone wedding anniversary, their commitment to duty has not wavered as they commenced their two-day royal visit of Norway.

Even though the couple are hard at work they still found the time to mark their wedding anniversary with a happy snap of them aboard the Royal Ship Dannebrog.

“In a few hours, the Royal Couple will arrive in Oslo and begin a state visit to Norway, after their Majesties sailed from Denmark yesterday with the Royal Ship Dannebrog,” the post’s caption read.

“The arrival to the Norwegian capital also happens on a very special day. It’s the King and Queen’s 20th wedding anniversary.”

Royal enthusiasts were quick to wish the pair a happy anniversary, many fondly recalling the royal couple’s “beautiful” wedding day 20 years ago.

“Happy 20th Anniversary. Blessings to you both for many more wonderful years,” one person wrote.

“Big congratulations on the 20th wedding anniversary. Your wedding was pure magic and so mesmerizingly beautiful.”

“Congratulations and wishing you both ‘Happy 20th wedding anniversary!!’ Good on y mate as we say down under,” commented another.

“That’s a lovely relaxed photo! Happy 20th anniversary. Congratulations from Australia. The sea looks calm. Good health, happiness and fortune for the next 20 years.”

While the couple’s recent wedding anniversary photos left royal fans overjoyed, recent official gala portraits shared by the pair were met with similar fanfare.

The portraits, which were posted to social media, show their majesties wearing the Order of the Elephant on chains.

The Order of the Elephant is one of Europe’s oldest and most distinguished orders of chivalry. Established in 1693, it is awarded to members of the royal family and foreign heads of state for outstanding service to Denmark.

The portraits will be hung in state institutions around the world and on Danish vessels.

In similar fashion to the couple’s anniversary photo, royal fans were quick to praise the ” beautiful” gala portraits with one claiming they are “a couple to be proud of” while another stated that they are “the most gorgeous royals in history”.
