Princess Catherine reveals where she stands on Prince William’s new beard

Princess Catherine quickly became a style icon when she joined the British Royal Family, so many want to know what she thinks about her husband’s new beard.

Though Prince William debuted his new look to rapturous applause, there’s been no official word from the Princess of Wales regarding her husband’s new hirsute appearance.

But thankfully, an eagle-eared observer close to the royals revealed all after attending one of Princess Catherine’s appointments in London for St Patrick’s Day.

Princess Catherine made a solo visit to see the Irish Guards at the Wellington Barracks where she was overheard discussing her husband’s facial hair and said she liked his look, according to the source.

“These trends come and go,” the Princess said.

“I was saying to my husband, I’m not sure how long he’s going to keep his for.”

While royal fans agree the look suits the 42-year-old Prince, not everyone agrees and it’s caused considerable strife in the Wales’ household.

In a previous interview, the heir to the throne revealed there was a family member who quashed his previous attempts at growing facial hair.

“Charlotte didn’t like it the first time. I got floods of tears the first time I grew a beard, so I had to shave it off,” the Prince said via People magazine.

But tears or no tears, the Prince of Wales was determined to go shaggy-faced again and persuaded his only daughter to accept his new visage.

“And then I grew it back. I thought, hang on a second and I convinced her it was going to be okay,” he said.

Unfortunately for Princess Charlotte, she has yet to hold the same sway as her mother over Prince William’s fashion choices, according to the couple’s former communications advisor, Jason Knauf.

In a recent interview with 60 Minutes Australia, Knauf told the audience that Prince William would not keep his beard if Princess Catherine did not approve.

“If she didn’t like it, it wouldn’t be there. I could tell you that,” Knauf said.

Knauf admitted he “loved” Prince Williams’s new look but said all discussions about his new appearance were shut down by the heir to the throne.

“I love it. I think it’s great. But I’ve talked to him about it or tried to talk to him about it,” Knauf said.

“He’s like, ‘It’s here. I have a beard. No further conversation’.”
