State leaders are slowly releasing information about how their states will be reopening.
Today, Western Australian Premier Mark McGowan released an update on border control, declaring Queensland as a “very low risk” destination, sharing that Queenslanders would now be allowed to enter the state and visit without quarantining.
Following the latest public health advice, Western Australia’s controlled interstate border is set to be safely adjusted, pending no further outbreaks, with quarantine-free travel from Queensland to be permitted from 12.01am Friday, 22 October.

This news comes just 24 hours after Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced Queensland’s roadmap for reopening to the rest of the country, and then to international arrivals.
BREAKING: Today we’re releasing a plan for Queensland borders.
Travel restrictions will ease when 70% and 80% of eligible Queenslanders are fully vaccinated.#covid19 pic.twitter.com/4PANA1CBjF

However, some Twitter users noted that Queensland’s plan only seems to leave room for those who are vaccinated against Covid-19.
Others have questions.
So let me get this straight… even at 90% vaccination there’s no plan for Australian’s to be allowed into Queensland from other states without being fully vaccinated?? Never thought I’d see the day. Is this a permanent restriction on unvaccinated arrivals?

Many people are suspicious of the Queensland Government, based on the haste they’ve previously shown in locking down and closing the borders to other states.
Pretty sure Western Australia is going to gently and quietly push the border shut to Queensland on December 17, if not earlier.

Until i see in writing somewhere you will no longer be closing the border & locking people out, i won’t be risking a holiday in QLD. Safer to book somewhere like Fiji…
