Dinnerladies’ Victoria Wood dies aged 62

Multi-Bafta award-winning actress Victoria Wood has died after a short battle with cancer, her publicist has confirmed. She was 62.

Wood secured her place as one of Britain’s most popular stand-up comics in the 1980s, with shows like Victoria Wood as Seen on TV and Wood and Walters, where she stood alongside longtime collaborator Julie Walters. However, it was perhaps her writing and starring in the TV series Dinnerladies with Walters that she is best known.
