Lisa Curry has given her followers an update on how she’s doing, just weeks after her daughter Jaimi passed away following a battle with a long-term illness. She was just 33 years old.

The former Olympian took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a sweet photograph of herself and dog Mali enjoying a day at the beach at Stumers Creek on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

“Just ‘pawsing’ for a moment to take in some joy,” she wrote on Instagram. “Mali’s first time at the beach…. being a farm dog this was all new to her.”

Lisa’s followers were quick to comment on the photo, sending well-wishes to Lisa and her family, with many expressing their joy at seeing the former champion swimmer smiling. While others shared their own tales of grief.

“So happy to see your smile,” one user wrote. ” My girlfriend told my recently a few days after I lost my son I laughed out loud at something she said it was the best sound she had ever heard. Even it times of great sadness you can still find happiness in the simple things. Never ever feel guilty.”

Another commented: “Best healing activity for your soul – the sun, fresh air & a puppy. As hard as it is to get out & about & to find joy during your sadness, the simple things in life work wonders. Good to see a smile in this post, may not be every day but at least you’re feeling in a happy place in this pic for your many followers & supporters who can take comfort in seeing your smile. Take care of yourself, give yourself time & one day at a time.”

While another follower wrote: “Lisa, such a beautiful woman! The beach is a great healer! My safe/happy place.”

The 58-year-old sporting icon confirmed the news of Jaimi’s passing on social media earlier this month and paid tribute to her “beautiful and kind” daughter, saying her heart is “completely broken”.

“Our beautiful daughter Jaimi has lost her battle with a long-term illness and passed away peacefully in hospital yesterday morning with her loving family by her side,” she wrote on September 15. “So loved. So beautiful. So kind to everyone. So painful. I can barely breathe.”

Lisa, who shares three children with ex-husband Grant Kenny, penned the gut-wrenching post the day after Jaimi’s death and described her first-born child as a “caring, bright and loving soul who always put others before herself”.

“Her love of flowers, cooking, art, decorating, photography, babies, the beach, and helping others will always be remembered,” she added. “Our hearts are broken and the pain is unbearable but we cherish every wonderful moment we got to share with our treasured and so loved first child.”
