Renowned as a formidable quizzer on The Chase, Anne Hegerty is now set to grace the silver screen in an exciting new venture.

The 65-year-old star has confirmed her participation in a short film, marking her debut in the world of cinema.

“I’ve been asked to be in the film and I’ve decided to go for it. We’re going to be making that in the next few months,” Hegerty revealed in a recent interview with the Daily Star.

“I don’t think I’ll be nervous. It’s not in front of an audience. If it was, I’d be thinking, ‘Oh my God am I going to forget my lines?’ But because there won’t be an audience watching, I’m not worried.

“It should be a lot of fun. I’m rather looking forward to it.”

While this marks her first foray into film, Hegerty is no stranger to performing. She highlighted her annual appearances in pantomime since 2014, suggesting that this background might lend a hand in her transition to acting.

“I’ve done panto every year since 2014, so that might help,” she explained.

“That’s about it when it comes to experience. But the team behind the film obviously think I’ve got a bit of acting ability, which is a good sign.”

Evidently bitten by the acting bug, Hegerty expressed her eagerness for future roles.

“I’d love to do more acting. If anyone wants me for something, they just need to call me!” she said.

While some fans may be concerned that Hegerty could be swapping her time on The Chase for the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, rest assured that the quizmaster has previously indicated her unwavering love for the program.

When recently asked about her plans on the show, the 65-year-old quiz legend responded with enthusiasm, no doubt leaving fans buzzing.

“As long as they’ll have me. I don’t have any plans to retire. This is the little workhorse that makes everything else possible, and I love doing it,” she revealed in a previous interview with the Daily Star.

Hegerty’s affection for the show is evident as she described it as “the best job I’ve ever had.”

Hegerty recently revealed her favorite part of being on the show, and it’s not solely about the thrill of competition.

In a recent interview with The Express, Hegerty opened up about what makes her time on The Chase truly special. Reflecting on her experience, she shared that she has “too many favourite things”.

“Possibly working with Brad. He is just this legendary presenter, and he is just such a nice guy, all the Chasers have such a nice rapport with him,” she revealed.

But beyond the star-studded company, Hegerty finds a unique sense of fulfillment in the job itself.

“But also the fact that it is a job that I can do. It is sort of tailor-made for me and I can earn a decent living just by doing a few hours of work every day, which is brilliant,” she shared.

“So it suits me down to a tea. I always say, any time that I am filming for The Chase, the actual filming for The Chase is the easy part of my day and everything else is more difficult so yeah, I absolutely love it.”
