Flying can be a mixed bag of experiences, emotions, and comfort. While we’re willing to pay the price for a packed flight, rude passengers can still affect your trip. And if the person in front won’t cooperate, it can make the journey even more uncomfortable.
But one frequent traveler has come up with a genius solution that will stop that person in front from reclining their seat back constantly.
The tools needed?
Just a large-size, cylindrical packet of Pringles.
Passenger Claire Duggan shared her tip on social media which showed how she dealt with a passenger who would not straighten his seat.
In a video she uploaded to TikTok, Duggan showed how she had wedged the distinctive container of chips between the top and bottom of the tray table.
“This is the best life hack when you’ve got someone in front who is trying to put the seat down constantly,” she said.
But just like airplane food, the response from internet users was mixed, with some applauding the hack while others called out Duggan pointing out that the seats are meant to decline.
“Clever! But they are entitled to put seat back, like,” one wrote,
“I love this! thank you,” another added.
“Fly private or deal with it,” one argued.
“As a 6ft 5 traveller this is the best thing I’ve ever seen,” another commented.
“I would call the steward immediately to fix my seat. I do not fight with the passengers. I know my rights.”
However, Duggan explained that her seat hack was a last resort to a passenger who would not cooperate after repeated pleading.
“I actually don’t mind people reclining but this guy was refusing to lift his up when I was eating even though politely asked. so this seemed like a fair way of dealing with it,” Duggan wrote.
Duggan isn’t the only one offering up clever in-flight hacks, a seasoned flight attendant recently took to social media with expert tips she learnt from five years on the job.
TikTok user @cherdallas encourages passengers to bring their own toilet paper, stating, “If you examine the toilet paper, I promise you’re going to see water droplets on it, or what you think are water droplets.”
“I don’t think we can trust most men to make it in the toilet on a normal day, let alone flying at 36,000 feet with turbulence” she added.
Instead, she suggests travellers BYO (Bring Your Own) toilet paper to ensure a more hygienic experience.
But that’s not all, she also dives into the world of fashion, advising against wearing shorts on a flight.
“I would never wear shorts on a plane,” she declares, highlighting the apparent risk of freezing mid-flight.
However, her second reason takes a more serious turn, focusing on safety.
“Say we have an evacuation. You have to go down the slide. Your butt cheeks are going to be sizzled off,” she explained.
While the scenario may seem extreme, it’s a perspective that most passengers likely haven’t considered.
So, the next time you board a plane, think twice about the toilet paper and consider opting for pants – your comfort and safety might just depend on it.
