A newly qualified doctor took over from a retiring GP and decided to visit some of his older, less mobile patients to introduce himself and check on their health.
When he arrived at Aunt Ellie’s house, he said, “Hello, Mrs. Ellie. You’re looking remarkably fit for your age!”
“Why, thank you, doctor,” she replied. “I’ve never been sick a day in all my 84 years.”
“That’s fantastic,” he responded. “Tell me, have you ever been bedridden?”
Aunt Ellie paused, looked at him, and said, “Well, yes, many times… and once in a horse and buggy!”
