It took 2000 women more than six months, but they have cracked the world record for the largest crochet blanket. The team, known as Mother India’s Crochet Queens, together created an 11,148-square-metre bedspread, the ABC reports, with participants from India and 14 other countries hooking in.
Their extraordinary creation beat the previous record by a mile, the record was held by a South African group that produced a 3377-square-metre blanket.
The colourful blanket covers the area of one and a half football fields and, once the record was set, the 8000 individual squares were separated and donated to charities.
