He was a fixture on Channel Nine’s Today for years and after being axed from the iconic show late last year, Karl Stefanovic has been largely out of the spotlight.
While he appeared on the Logies red carpet earlier this month and is expected to return to TV as the host of This Time Next Year within the next few months, reports on Saturday claim the 44-year-old will be starting a new job on Monday in radio.
As reported by The Age, the father-of-three will become a weekly contributor on Steve Price’s afternoon radio show on 2GB. According to the publication, Stefanovic’s latest gig was announced by Macquarie Media on Saturday.
At the time of publication, the Gold Logie winner had not spoken publicly about his new role as a regular contributor on Price’s new show. Meanwhile, 2GB released a statement about Price’s new show ahead of its launch on Monday.
“Following significant success hosting Nights with Steve Price, one of Australia’s most respected broadcasters and media personalities will bring his signature down-to-earth style to the 12pm to 3pm timeslot,” the statement read. “The Steve Price Show will feature more interviews, more news, more opinion, and more entertainment.”
2GB also confirmed that Price would be “joined by some of the nation’s biggest personalities and leading opinion makers”, but they didn’t specifically name Stefanovic.
The announcement of the former Today co-host’s new job comes weeks after he opened up about being axed from the popular breakfast show. Speaking to reporters at the Logies breakfast brunch on the Gold Coast, the TV presenter said he’s feeling much “clearer” after taking a break from TV.

“It had taken its toll, a lot of the attention – all the unwarranted attention I thought and you can’t control any of that, I’m not going to complain too much about that, but what it meant was that in a work capacity I don’t believe for a second I was at my best,” he said. “I think I was struggling towards the end of last year.”
Despite the public’s surprise over his departure from his hosting duties with Today, Stefanovic explained it wasn’t much of a shock for him and it had been something he’d been expecting.
The father-of-three said it was actually a “relief” to step back from the spotlight, admitting he wasn’t in the right headspace to be in such a top role with the program at that time. In fact, he claimed you needed to be at “the top of your game” to be in that position – which he wasn’t.
