Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford come together in teaser trailer for ‘Yellowstone’ spin-off series ‘1923’

Dubbed one of “America’s greatest shows”, raking record-breaking viewership numbers episode, after episode, it’s hard to imagine any other Western drama series topping Yellowstone. 

However, Yellowstone‘s spin-off series 1923 is just around the corner, and if their teaser trailer is any indication of just how good the new series is going to be, then there’s no doubt believing it’ll be just as gripping.

According to the show’s official synopsis, audiences will meet “a new generation of the Dutton family” who are trying to navigate life in the “struggle to survive historic drought, lawlessness and prohibition, and an epidemic of cattle theft; all battled beneath the cloud of Montana’s great depression”

Starring Hollywood royalties Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford, 1923, takes us a century back before Kevin Costner’s John Dutton and his family run the iconic Dutton ranch.

The Indiana Jones star will be playing the role of Jacob Dutton, the brother of James Dutton, who is played by famed country star Tim McGraw.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Ford described his character as the “silverback.”

“He’s responsible for that branch of the family. These are two people with a very strong bond to each other who are facing really complicated circumstances,” he said.

Meanwhile, acclaimed actress Miren plays James’ wife, Cara Dutton.

Speaking about her role, Miren explained how she had chosen to make Clara an Irish immigrant because it “slightly annoyed” her that many Western dramas “have all these people speaking with modern American accents when in fact so many of them were fairly recent immigrants.”

“The big Irish immigration to America, because of the potato famine, was in the late 19th century. That absolutely chronologically works for Cara. She’s now in her late 60s, we imagine. So she would’ve come, I think, as a young woman from Ireland,” she said.

“I think that’s one of the extraordinary elements of America. The people who arrived, and are still arriving, are people with enormous resilience and enormous courage and independence.”

The star-studded cast also includes Darren Mann, Michelle Randolph, James Badge Dale, Marley Shelton, Brian Geraghty, Aminah Nieves and Jerome Flynn.

1923 is scheduled to premiere on December 18, immediately after a new episode of Yellowstone drops. 

Meanwhile, the original Yellowstone series just dropped the first few episodes for its highly anticipated fifth season after hitting a record-breaking fourth season which saw the series receive a nomination for a Screen Actors Award and Producers Guild Award.
