She’s enjoyed decades in the Australian entertainment industry but while she’s been hugely open about almost every aspect of her personal life until now, there’s one secret Carlotta is determined to take to the grave.

The 75-year-old star has opened up on Seven’s The Morning Show about an affair she once had with a Logie Award winner, but insisted she is refusing to identify him – yet.

Asked if she’s taking his name to the grave, Carlotta joked: “I’m taking a few names to the grave!”

However, she added: “You’ll have to read the book that comes out after I die. There’s too many people that like two minutes of fame and that’s all you’ll get by naming thick people like that. I’m not interested in that.”

The entertainer first revealed the affair in an exclusive interview with New Idea and claimed they were actually set up by controversial author and academic Germaine Greer.

“Darling, he was the best lover ever,” she told the mag in August. “Germaine Greer set us up, thinking the whole thing was a huge joke – but it backfired when we hit it off. We had a beautiful romance. I suppose people would be shocked.”

She also revealed fond memories of enjoying romances with Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham and Peter Allen, praising the latter for his passion. However, of John, she joked: “I think John was so out of it on drugs, he thought he was in bed with Jerry Lewis!”

Elsewhere in the same chat she admitted she has recently overcome cancer. The television personality admitted being terrified when she was given her diagnosis. Thankfully, the tumour was found early and she’s feeling healthier than ever.

Carlotta was born Richard Byron in 1943 and remains one of the country’s most well-known transgender people. Most recently, she’d been appearing as a regular on Network Ten’s Studio 10. At the height of last year’s same-sex marriage debate, she used her platform on the popular show to explain that she’d been fighting her whole life for acceptance.

“I’ve been fighting my whole life to be accepted, you know, and I’m still fighting for it,” she said, fighting back tears. “It’s only places like Studio 10 and Beauty and the Beast that give me the acceptance.”

Carlotta departed the show earlier this year and shared an update with fans on Facebook.

“Thank you all for the support from my exit from Studio 10,” she wrote. “I wish the show the greatest success in the future as I had the most wonderful time working on it for the last 4 years. Cheers lovies.”
