Clint Walker, star of ‘Cheyenne’, dies age 90

Western movie fans are in mourning following the death of Hollywood legend Clint Walker.

Walker, who was most famous for playing a cowboy on the hit western TV series Cheyenne has died at the age of 90, according to TMZ. The Dirty Dozen star’s daughter confirmed her father passed away from congestive heart failure. Although 90, his family are reportedly in shock by his sudden death. He is believed to have passed away in hospital with his loved ones by his side.

Walker got his big break in Hollywood after being cast in The Ten Commandments alongside Charlton Heston. He was easily one of the biggest heartthrobs of the 1950s and became a household name when he joined Cheyenne as Cheyenne Bodie in 1955. The show ran for seven successful seasons, with reruns still airing in many countries around the world.

He famously starred in Frank Sinatra’s hit film None But the Brave and also appeared in an array of other critically acclaimed films including The Great Bank Robbery and More Dead Than Alive.

Fans have flooded social media with messages of condolence for the late actor.

One person on Twitter wrote: “Damn, huge piece of my childhood has passed. Cheyenne was my favorite Cowboy Hero. RIP Clint Walker. BTW he would’ve made a helluva Superman [sic].”

Another comment read: “#RIP Clint Walker. Such a great screen presence on TV or in the movies. Should have had a bigger career. One of my favourites was in the only movie ever directed by Frank Sinatra, ‘None But the Brave’”.

A third added: “Clint Walker is gone at 90. Another childhood icon bites the dust. Met him once and he couldn’t have been nicer. One of the last of the original DIRTY DOZEN (Trini Lopez, JIm Brown and Donald Sutherland thankfully still with us).R.I.P. CHEYENNE”.

Fans have also began laying flowers on Walkers star on Los Angeles’ famous Hollywood Walk of Fame.
