Aussies have long loved a good gameshow. Back before we were doing Netflix marathons on our tablets, families would sit around their television sets and flick on Celebrity Squares or perhaps Blankety Blankson.
Shows like Blind Date, The Love Game and Perfect Match were there to make us cringe or perhaps make us believe in love. Then there were shows like Great Temptation and Pick a Box, which made us feel anything was possible. Or you could watch people trying their luck on Burgo’s Catch Phrase or Sale of the Century.
And our affection remains undimmed, with plenty of people regularly tuning in to Millionaire Hotseat, The Wall, and The Chase. Everyone usually has a favourite, usually based on whether they’re a general-knowledge junky, a good people-reader, or just love a game of chance.
