Western Australia is home to so many amazing sights and activities, with natural wonders, amazing sea life, and stunning scenery. Whether you’re into overland adventures full of non-stop action, or would rather sit back and relax at a vineyard with a nice glass of wine, WA has you covered.
1. Wildflower tour
Western Australia is home to thousands of beautiful wildflowers with many blooming all over the state. Head to the Coral Coast or Golden Outback for a sea of colour with pink, yellow, and white everlastings. If orchids are your thing, visit the South West coast for the prettiest display, or try the North Coast for bright display of petals contrasted against the dusty red earth.
2. Swim with the whale sharks
If you’re the adventurous type you should definitely add this experience to your bucket list. Whale sharks are the largest fish and a one on one encounter with these animals is truly awe-inspiring. You’ll find them at the World Heritage listed Ningaloo Reef, with the best times to visit between March and July.
3. Karijini National Park
The stunning scenery at this national park is one of the most spectacular places to visit in WA, with fantastic hiking trails leading you through ancient gorges and flowing waterfalls. There is so much to explore here and you can spend hours searching through tunnels and deep chasms. Once you’ve warmed up, take a refreshing dip in the permanent water pools before heading off on a 4WD adventure.
4. Margaret River
After all of that adventuring, you deserve a break and nice glass of local wine! The Margaret River is home to some of the best wineries in the country and is only a three-hour drive from Perth. Set against a backdrop of the countryside and ocean views you can enjoy a tour and a taste of some of the amazing goods on offer.
5. Pinnacles
Rising up out of the dusty earth, the Pinnacles are one of the most striking sights in Australia. Resting at the Nambung National Park, they were formed out of seashells over millions of years thanks to the nature forces of wind and water and now make one of our absolute must-see destinations.
