Life hack: How to easily remove scorch marks from pots and pans 22

View Profile

Scorching the bottom of pots and pans happens to the best of us but put down the scourer because we have found a much easier way to get rid of the black marks!

You will need:

  • 2 tbsp baking soda
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1 cup of water
  1. Fill the bottom of the pan so it is covered by a layer of water.
  2. Add the vinegar
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  4. Remove from heat and add baking soda.
  5. Empty the pan and use a scourer as you normally would but the marks should come off a lot easier.

Note: if there are any particularly hard marks to remove than create a paste using baking soda and a few drops of water. Leave the paste on the marks for a few hours before rinsing again.

Have you got some other cleaning tips?

  1. Another tip place the pan outside in the hot sun for 2 or 3 days and it will start to self clean with minimal help from you ,my mum’s tip from years back .

    • If it’s the ants that clean it, my saucepans will be clean in a couple of hours. We have so many ants at the moment, it’s almost impossible to hang the clothes on the line because of them!

  2. Put a brown onion with skin in pan cover with water and bring to the boil. Turn heat off and leave it overnight. Then just was as usual. It will all come off.

  3. I just put hot water in mine, place back on the heat for a short time, then leave overnight. Works everytime.
