While his mother is making headlines for being the oldest women signed as a CoverGirl representative, Elon Musk is making headlines of his own, and they are out of this world.
The billionaire entrepreneur has revealed plans that seem straight out of a Sci-Fi movie; for a base on the Moon, and a city on Mars.
Speaking at the International Astronautical Congress in Adelaide today, Musk announced he plans to use a rocket bigger than an A380 plane to send people to Mars, and to eventually create a population of a million on the planet.

Musk described what a Mars city would look like on an Instagram post. “Opposite of Earth. Dawn and dusk sky are blue on Mars and day sky is red.”

His company SpaceX has begun work on the rocket, according to Musk, and they have plans to get people on Mars by 2024.
“I can’t think of anything more exciting than being out there among the stars,” he said.

There was also talk of using rockets on earth, and not just for space travel, to get people anywhere in under an hour. Funds raised from this form of travel could then be used to fund the Mars missions.
