Singapore Airlines has been crowned the world’s best carrier in TripAdvisor’s annual Travellers’ Choice Awards.
The airline was praised for its tasty food and seamless service, and won particular kudos for its luxurious business class cabin, which boasts sprawling flat beds and plenty of room for your belongings.
“The food was the best I have had in the last ten years. Service was great and the staff actually wanted to be there,” said a TripAdvisor reviewer.
The carrier also won over customers with its exclusive offers, such as discounts at a variety of shops around the world when a customer presents their boarding pass within a month of flying, as well as its complimentary two-and-a-half-hour tours of Singapore for those whose transit is longer than five hours.
It was rated most highly in customer service, cleanliness and in-flight entertainment.
Coming in second place was Air New Zealand, which also won the Best Premium Economy Award, followed by Middle Eastern airline, Emirates.
Air New Zealand was praised for its extensive on-board wine list, with travellers knocking back its complimentary reds and whites with meals — even in economy.
Last year’s winner, Emirates came in at number three, and while travellers weren’t as impressed with its performance this year, they still went gaga over the carrier’s wide seats and windows, as well as its professional airhosts and exceptional service.

The list was dominated by Asian carriers with Singapore Airlines, Japan Airlines, EVA Air and Korean Airlines all nabbing spots in the top 10.
This was one of five categories from the Travellers’ Choice Awards including Best Hotel, Best Destination, Destinations on the Rise and Best Beaches. The winners of each award were chosen through an algorithm that combined the quantity and quality of TripAdvisor customer reviews and ratings over the 12-month period.
For the second year running, Australia missed out on any international awards, however, Qantas once again took out first place for the national award.
