Have you seen Western Australia’s wildflowers up close?

Jun 05, 2017

Given the sheer scale of Western Australia, it comes as little surprise that this diverse state has plenty to offer visitors.

From its isolated capital of Perth to its flaming red sunsets, WA is famous for its long sunny days, ever-changing landscapes and miles of impressive coastline.

From June through to November, WA has yet another claim to fame: it becomes home to the world’s largest collection of wildflower blooms.

This wonderful display starts in the north at the beginning of spring and continues down to the south coast. Of the amazing 12,000 species of wildflowers found during this time, 60% are not found anywhere else in the world making them totally unique to the region. Visitors come from far and wide to admire these vivid blooms with species (including orchids, kangaroo paws and banksia) exploding into colour across the state, making the already spectacular scenery all the more mesmerising.
